As I read your post I couldn't stop thinking about how much I love story books that help play a role in teaching kids other languages. For instance, I recently picked up Matthew Gollub's latest book titled, "Jazz Fly 2: The Jungle Pachanga." The book invites kids to listen to a story on CD, while following along in the book. The book repeats several Spanish words and phrases- repeated along with fun upbeat jazzy music- giving the kids the ability to learn how to correctly pronounce the Spanish words. In my opinion, this early exposure to Spanish is exactly what most kids need but lack.

This is one of most authentic book written about Dia de los Muertos. It makes the concept of not only Dia de los Muertos comprehensible, but also the of death, a friendly and natural process.
Loved the book and especially reading it to my second graders.

Why do I love LBBC? So many reasons - 1) one stop shop for keeping up w/ Latino publications, 2) great place to send teachers who are unfamiliar w/ Latino culture - I know they will get quality material (not biased or stereotypical) 3) great place to access reliable links 4) mucho mucho mas. I think the LBBC is a great concept and provides parents like me with wonderful resources and books for encouraging bilingualism in our home. Without such a resource, it would take me three times as long to find quality bilingual literature for my daughter.

great website, would love to win the book. My girls and I celebrated Dia de los Muertos today for the first time, and really enjoyed ourselves. LBBC and Spanglishbaby.com are amazing resources for helping me in raising my children with at least a little of my late mother's Mexican culture...

I love el dia de los muertos! I lived in Mexico as a child and got to experience it firsthand. However, my kids have never been to Mexico and I find so many great books to teach them about our culture through this website.:)
